So after procrastinating for a few weeks, I've finally started running again. For some reason I'm not super interested in running when it's hot, but when it starts to get cool . . . I get the urge. This year I'm starting earlier than usual - which should give me lots of time to actually get fast enough to race.
My goal is to run the 10km race at the race weekend in Ottawa, which is in May I think.
Inspiration comes from strange places though. Last Sunday U2 broadcast their concert in LA on Youtube. It didn't start until like 11:45pm (timezones eh) so I watched about 45 minutes of it and then went to bed. Fortunately they've kept it up on Youtube (and they also fixed the audio - there was a bad echo when they were playing live). So I continued to watch a bit the next few nights until I had worked my way through it.
Tuesday night, I was thinking of going out for a run, but was putting it off (in favour of watching more of the concert). Resuming from where I had left off, I started watching right around where they went into City of Blinding Lights. And during the intro Bono is doing laps around the stage on the catwalk . . . and I think to myself . . . I better go for that run.
After this song is over.
Bono is the last person I would ever think would inspire exercise . . . but I guess it was more of a timing thing.
Here's the concert if you like.
Or, if you want Bono to inspire you to exercise:
Probably not a super idea . . . he looks like he's gonna collapse when he stops, and then he's out of breath for the rest of the song. But maybe the music is motivational enough to go do something active. Like play guitar and drink coffee. Or somethin'. : )
OK, but so anyway, what I wanted to say is . . . it's on. Running. It's on.
