Detail Disoriented 2.0

For a long time I've gone around with this notion that I'm a detail oriented person. But I've been thinkering about that.

I work in a cabinet shop. Just like everywhere else, there are details everywhere. Today as I was learning and doing something I hadn't done before, I came face to face with this detail oriented phenomenon. And I became not so sure that I am detail oriented - or even what it really means.

I think I'm actually detail disoriented. I notice all kinds of details like a detail oriented person (whatever that is, whoever they are), but then my processor bogs down and I have to sit down and get my puffer out.

So maybe I'm not really detail oriented. OR maybe my detail orientedness needs to be tempered. Like with, say, a deadline oriented detail bouncer that only lets the appropriate details into the party.
